Youtube edu
Who said YouTube is just for entertainment ? I just read the Times from April about universities classes going online. I myself subscribe to stanforduniversity . What is the goal ? Promotion, gain international exposure, attract potential students, degrade élite degrees . After all watching these classes doesn’t give you a diploma or gain access to alumni network.

Rejected by the MBA of my dreams
Yesterday I got an email from the admission office lady of Tsinghua SEM . Not in the waiting list, I’m rejected. Starting by “thank you very much”, I knew very well the answer.
With partnership , exchange with MIT and Stanford, Tsinghua is considered by Chinese nationals the best university. Some famous lecturers such as Jack Perkowski “Managing the dragon” (which I’ve been reading) , Thornton ex CEO of Golman Sachs, Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Renault Nissan… One friend told me it’s a privilege for anyone to get into it. So as a foreigner, with a low GMAT (but damn the lady told me they need the GMAT score before end of May), I only bring shame to them. Montauk suggests to ask feedback from the school in case of re-application. Of course the university will offer feedback on the specific area of improvement.

C : we will drive to the netherlands tomorrow
let s hope there will be plenty of sun
R : remember I asked you if doing an MBA at Tsinghua is valuable ?
and visit the red light district at Amsterdam ?
Well they rejected me
C : red light in Amsterdam and MBA
R : well you read what ? the girls at red light district rejected me. OR an MBA at red light district
C : ha ha , i guess the girls only reject you if you have no cash
At least the conversation cheer me up. Why the hell do I want to do in MBA in China ? “That’s the craziest idea” from one of my recommender. Worse once you graduate if you don’t speak the language fluently, you won’t get any jobs. The degree is only valid in China.
Well China, from all the countries I’ve visited, is the only one that meets rapid change and exciting opportunities. As an European, I feel like we’re antique, slow and sluggish in our business. Like Napoleon once said “Let China sleep. For when China wakes, it will shake the world” , I believe this momentum has happened. Some would expats don’t have any Chinese diploma, how they come land on high paying jobs. The thing is if you have a very special skill (heavy lift boat) not present in China or general manager, then you can omit to speak the language. But still now it’s changing fast, half pat graduated from Ivy League are willing to get a fraction of they could get in Western countries.
I often watch this ad from Beckham who was the scapegoat after the loss against Argentina. He had to wait another 4 years to come back. MBA applicants only have to wait one additional year.
